Last updated: August 4, 2022

Summary:

We respect privacy regulations, including the EU’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and this policy explains how we collect and treat any information you give us.

Our policy covers

Why we value your privacy
We value your privacy as much as we do our own, so we’re committed to keeping your personal and business information safe. We only ask for the bare minimum from our visitors and customers. We’ll never use your personal information for any reason other than why you gave it, and we’ll never give anyone access to it unless we’re forced to by law.

How we collect information
We ask for contact information, including your email address, on our website so that we can reply to your enquiry.

Our website doesn’t use cookies or scripts that were designed to track the other websites you visit, though we do use analytics software on this site that tracks activity, to serve you better, within the confines of our pages. We don’t use native social media ‘like’ or ‘sharing’ buttons that build profiles of your internet activity.

We collect your email address when you sign up for one of our newsletters.

We ask for your address, account, and contact information when you donate or purchase something from us.

What information we hold
When you contact us by email or through our website, we collect your name and/or email address.

If you sign up for a newsletter, we only collect your email address.

When you donate or buy something from us, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and a billing address.

All purchases are processed by Mollie.com or Paypal.com, our ecommerce platforms, and we never have access to your credit card information.

When you leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included, otherwise visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from your images.

Cookies
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two years. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we store your information
When you contact us by email or through our website, we store your your information in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. If you sign up for a newsletter, we store your email address in our CRM, or in Constant Contact, which is the marketing platform we use. When you buy something, your information is stored in WooCommerce, our ecommerce platform. We chose these systems partly for their commitment to security.

What we use your information for
If you have opted in, we occasionally use your contact information to send you information about our programs, such as new videos, in-person events, or programs that you can optionally choose to support. When we do, you have the option to unsubscribe from these communications and we won’t send them to you again. We might also mail (snail mail) you event schedules and other information, but if you tell us not to, we won’t get in touch again. We will use your information to send you invoices, statements, or reminders, only when necessary.

Who’s responsible for your information at our company
If you have any concerns about the information we store, you can contact the person responsible for data protection at [email protected].

Who has access to information about you
When we store information in our own systems, only the people who need it have access. Our administrative team has access to everything you’ve provided, but individual employees have access to only what they need to do their job.

The steps we take to keep your information private
Where we store your information in third-party services, we restrict access only to people who need it. We store passwords, for your ability to log in to our website, in local encrypted storage, behind hardened servers and WAFs (web application firewalls).

How to complain
We take complaints very seriously. If you have any reason to complain about the ways we handle your privacy, please contact us by email at [email protected]

Changes to the policy
If we change the contents of this policy, those changes will become effective the moment we publish them on our website.
